Thomas Edison was the inventor of many of the things that we still use today and was a prolific patent holder. But he was also known for his ruthless business tactics and the cornering of the industries he was involved in. It was actually his proficiency in being an a-hole that led to the founding of Hollywood.

Thanks to independent filmmakers who refused to pay licensing fees to Thomas Edison’s MPCC, the Hollywood we once knew and loved was founded. Here’s a brief history of what went down.
